UNOH takes two from UM-Dearborn

LIMA, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn baseball team dropped a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader to the University of Northwestern Ohio Saturday in Lima, Ohio

The Wolverines fell 7-2 in the opener, while John Dyda took a perfect game into the seventh inning of game two for UM-Dearborn, but UNOH scored two in the seventh and four in the eighth, holding on for a 6-4 win to earn the sweep.

The losses drop UM-Dearborn to 15-19-1 overall and 8-6 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one, but UNOH scored six unanswered to take control. Justin Dolney picked up an RBI single in the fifth for UM-Dearborn.

Garrett Davis took the loss on the mound, going four innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits. Dan Bos pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two.

The second game remained scoreless until the seventh inning when UM-Dearborn broke through on a UNOH error followed by a triple from Andrew Capone. Dyda's perfect game ended with the first Racer batter of the seventh as the home team tied the score at 2-2 after seven.

UNOH went in front with four runs in the eighth. The Wolverines rallied in the ninth on a two-run double from Shaun Hannibal, but UNOH closed the door.

Dolney finished with three hits in the loss. Dyda pitched all eight innings, allowing six runs, five earned on eight hits, while striking out five.

UM-Dearborn returns to action with two nonconference games at Cleary University at 2 pm Thursday in Howell, Mich.
