Women's Basketball All-Conference Honors Announced

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball senior Maya Barakat was named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference team. The league announced on Thursday (Feb. 29).

The Dearborn, Mich. native received the award for the first time in her career. Barakat, who appeared in just 57 games in the Maize & Blue, had most of her career shortened due to injury. However, Maya has dominated while on the court, amassing 500 career rebounds in those games.

Barakat led the Wolverines in almost every major category, producing huge numbers during her career year. The senior center averaged 16 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, shooting 47.2% from the field and 73% from the charity stripe. Barakat led the WHAC in rebounds per game and finished seventh in the conference in points per game.
