BEVERLY HILLS, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team returned to action by playing host to the No. 10 ranked William Penn University Statesmen in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse in Beverly Hills, Mich.

After finding themselves down two, the Wolverines would strike twice in a three-minute span to tie the game, however, the Statesmen would add two more goals to take a 4-2 lead into the half. UM-Dearborn would pull within one, but William Penn would add two more goals before the end of the third quarter and another in the final minute to pull away from the Wolverines, handing them a 7-5 defeat.

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 0-2 overall on the season.

With the Statesmen getting the lone goal in the first quarter and adding another five minutes into the second, Nolan Kelley would get the Wolverines on the board with an unassisted effort midway through the second, following it up with another goal with Bryce Washington getting the assist on the man-up advantage. With UM-Dearborn down two in the third, Parker Steindl would add another man-up tally with Brock Hunt getting the assist. After William Penn stretched its lead to three, Mason Loudermilk would connect off of a pass from Ryan Savage to pull the Wolverines within two. Bryce Washington would close out the scoring with Kelley assisting, however the lead was too much to overcome as UM-Dearborn would fall in the closely contested match-up.

Jay Rupnow would take the loss in goal for the Wolverines, making nine saves in the game.
