DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team earned two awards for the 2020 season, it was announced on Thursday.

Seniors Ben Phillips and Micah Rinke were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® Team in the At-Large Division. The award is the first for Phillips and the second for Rinke.

The 2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

To be nominated by a member sports information director, a student-athlete must have achieved sophomore class standing, been enrolled at their current institution for one year at the start of the current academic calendar, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above. The members of CoSIDA then select the honorees.

Phillips started his senior season strong before the campaign was canceled. The Plymouth, Mich., native recorded 15 goals and six assists in five games this season for the Wolverines. He is a two-time WHAC All-Academic Team member, an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and was the 2019 UM-Dearborn SLAAM Scholarship Award winner.

Rinke was also off to a solid senior season as the Plymouth, Mich., native had seven goals and an assist from the midfield. He is a two-time WHAC All-Academic honoree and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Both Phillips and Rinke will move on to the CoSIDA Academic All-American voting. The results will be announced in the coming weeks.
