Wolverines 13-1 win on Senior Night

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team increased its winning streak to 15 games, defeating the University of Toledo on Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena on Senior Night.

Seniors Tyler Dalton, Christian Ramage, Andrew Spiegel, John Barlow, Troy Saunders, Tyler Groat and Kevin Bechard were honored at the first intermission in a Senior Night ceremony.

The Wolverines scored five goals in the first period before adding four each in the second and third in a 13-1 win over the Rockets, improving to 26-2-1 heading into their final regular season game.

Barlow got the scoring started for UM-Dearborn, scoring in the final home regular season game of his college career to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. After Spiegel made it 2-0, Barlow added his second of the night. UM-Dearborn scored two more before the break, scoring all five of its goals in a 6:44 stretch.

In the second, the Wolverines continued to find the net, as an early goal from Billy Brock, his second of the game, made it 6-0. UM-Dearborn took a 7-0 lead before Toledo scored its lone goal of the contest. The Wolverines answered back with two goals from Justin Dunn to take an eight-goal advantage into the second intermission.

Leading the way offensively was Dunn with four goals and two assists. Spiegel added a hat trick and two assists, while Bechard added four assists.

In goal, Thomas Proudlock earned his 23rd victory of the season, making four saves in the opening period. Backup goalie Rafael Goncalves took over for the Wolverines in the final two periods and made seven saves.

The Wolverines close out the regular season against the Rockets at 6:30 pm tomorrow at the Team Toledo Ice House in Toledo, Ohio.
