No. 2 Wolverines take down No. 3 Bulldogs 5-3

ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 2 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team won its third game in four nights, defeating No. 3 Adrian College Tuesday on the road at the Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.

The Wolverines used a strong second period to come back from a two-goal deficit and win 5-3 to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season. The victory, UM-Dearborn's ninth straight, pushes the Wolverines to 10-1-0 on the season.

Trailing 2-0 early in the second period, the Wolverines took control to tie the game in the middle frame. Andrew Spiegel got the scoring started for UM-Dearborn off an assist from John Barlow. Just under three minutes later, Justin Dunn scored the tying goal. The Wolverines continued to press offensively, eventually adding a third goal from Dawson Richard to take the 3-2 lead into the third.

Dunn added another tally early in the third picking off a pass and beating the Adrian goaltender on a backhand. After the Bulldogs scored a power-play goal to get back within one, Billy Brock scored late to put the game out of reach.

Leading the way offensively for the Wolverines was Dunn with two goals. John Ames added three assists, including an assist on the eventual game-winner, while Conor Cunningham and Silas Johnson each finished with one assist.

Thomas Proudlock, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made 45 saves to win his eighth straight and improve to 9-1 on the season.

The Wolverines return to action against Aquinas College in a WHAC matchup at 7 pm on Friday, Dec. 30 at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena in Dearborn, Mich.
