Racers tops UM-Dearborn 4-1 in WHAC match

LIMA, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team dropped a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest to No. 22 the University of Northwestern Ohio Saturday in Lima, Ohio.

The Racers scored two in the first half and two in the second to earn a 4-1 win over the Wolverines, who drop to 4-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the WHAC.

UM-Dearborn is currently tied with Siena Heights University for seventh place in the league standings with two games remaining. The Wolverines host their final two regular-season games, including against Rochester University (4-10-1 overall, 2-7 in the WHAC) and the finale against No. 17 Indiana Tech (11-4 overall, 8-0 in the WHAC)

Karim Jouini scored three times for the Racers to help UNOH pull away. UM-Dearborn picked up an own goal in the 82nd minute to get on the board but were unable to close the gap further.

UM-Dearborn was outshot 17-4 as Brian Ostapenko took the loss in net, allowing three goals in 72 minutes and making two saves.

The Wolverines host Rochester at 7:30 pm Wednesday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
