Drzyzga's late PK gives Wolverines 3-2 win at CUAA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – For the second consecutive game, the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team scored a late goal to earn a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win as the Wolverines topped Concordia University on the road Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

After tying the game at 2-2 earlier in the second half, the Wolverines earned a penalty kick in the 85th minute and senior Jacob Drzyzga came through for UM-Dearborn to secure a 3-2 comeback win.

The victory pushes UM-Dearborn to 4-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the WHAC as the Wolverines look to keep pace in the league standings.

Jack Barnett got the scoring started early for the Wolverines, putting his team up 1-0 in the 27th minute as he collected a rebound and put it away for his second this season.

After the Cardinals got a pair of goals in a four-minute span late in the first half to take a 2-1 lead, freshman Brendan Petz scored his third of the season midway through the second half to even the score, setting the stage for Drzyzga's game-winner in the closing minutes.

The Wolverines were outshot 17-9, as UM-Dearborn goalkeeper Brian Ostapenko made six saves in the win.

UM-Dearborn continues WHAC play against Aquinas College at 7:30 pm Wednesday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
