Lourdes tops UM-Dearborn on Senior Day

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team closed out its 2019 season with a loss to Lourdes University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse on Senior Day.

The Wolverines honored four senior student-athletes prior to the contest, including Dennis Havlin, Nolan Landis, Alex Gjokaj, and Devon Callaghan.

The Gray Wolves jumped out to a six-goal lead and led the rest of the way, defeating UM-Dearborn 15-7. The loss ends the UM-Dearborn season at 1-11 on the season and 1-7 in the WHAC.

Trailing 9-2 heading into the second half, the Wolverines began to build offensive momentum, scoring five goals to pull within five with six minutes remaining. Nick Johnson answered back with two goals for the Gray Wolves to put the game away.

In the final game of his Wolverines career, Callaghan scored four goals, leading the offense. The senior recorded 16 shots. Justin Brodzik, Adam Ranck and Ben Phillips each added a goal in the loss.

In goal, Liam Turner and Jay Rupnow split the game, making nine saves each. UM-Dearborn was outshot 49-40 and lost the ground ball battle 35-29.
