UM-Dearborn season ends with loss to Aquinas

LIVONIA, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team dropped its season finale to Aquinas College in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at University Field.

The Wolverines rallied from a five-run deficit before falling 11-5 in extra innings, ending their season with a 17-20-1 record overall and 7-14-1 in the WHAC.

The Saints went up 3-0 in the first inning off a three-run home run from Emily Kimball. They eventually added two more runs in the third to build a 5-0 lead.

UM-Dearborn's rally started in the bottom of the third as Madelin Skene hit a two-run home run to centerfield before consecutive RBIs from Makenna Milhorn and Amy Jarrett made it a one-score game. Millhorn added a home run of her own in the fifth to send the game to extra innings.

After both teams went scoreless in the eighth, Aquinas scored six runs in the ninth to take the game.

Ashlynn Henderson (6-6) surrendered six runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking five in 5.2 innings pitched. Millhorn led the offense with three hits and two RBIs.
