Wolverines drop game one before play postponed

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team continued the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season against Aquinas College Friday at Alumni Field in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines dropped game one 7-1 before falling temperatures forced the postponement of play before the start of game two. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 17-17-1 overall and 7-11-1 in the WHAC. The second game of the doubleheader will be made up at time and location to be determined.

UM-Dearborn took the early lead over the Saints after Madelin Skene reached following a hit by pitch. She stole second base and came home on an Aquinas error to put the Wolverines up 1-0 in the first. The Saints scored the final seven runs of the game, including three in the second inning.

Sarah Prashad and Melissa Charbonneau each recorded a double for the Wolverines. Skene (4-6) took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits in 2.2 innings.

UM-Dearborn returns to action against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 1 pm Saturday in Lima, Ohio.
