WOLVERINES PERFECT IN FOUR MATCHES AT CCSJ

On Friday, the Wolverines opened the event with a five-set win over Roosevelt University, topping the Lakers after falling behind 2-1 three sets in. The set scores were 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 26-24, 15-10. UM-Dearborn closed day one with a sweep of the host team, CCSJ, 25-12, 25-17, 25-18.

The Wolverines opened the final day with a three-set win over Governors State University, 25-9, 25-10, 25-18, while UM-Dearborn closed out a perfect weekend with a 25-16, 25-14, 26-24 win over William Penn.

The weekend moves UM-Dearborn to 9-10 overall and the team's win streak to five.

Against the Lakers, UM-Dearborn fell behind 2-1, but rallied to take the fourth set 26-24 and pulled away in the fifth. Shayla Smalls (SR/Canton, MI) led the Wolverine offense with 15 kills, while Gina Giacomini(FR/Plymouth, MI) and Erin Parrinello (JR/Westland, MI) added 12 and 11, respectively. Sabrina Giacomini (FR/Plymouth, MI) had a team-high 27 assists, while Daniella Barile (SO/Plymouth, MI) added 17. Heather Roberts (JR/Flint, MI) led the Wolverine defense with 16 digs, while Caitlyn Carlson (JR/Armada, MI) recorded 11 and Samantha Nash (FR/Roseburg, OR) added 10.

Against CCSJ, Jayci Forster (JR/Belleville, MI) led the way on offense with 11 kills, while Gina Giacomini added seven. Sabrina Giacomini had a team-high 15 assists, while Barile added 14. Carlson had a Wolverine-best 14 digs.

Gina Giacomini and Smalls each had seven kills against GSU, while Sabrina Giacomini finished with 14 assists. Parrinello had seven digs and Roberts added six.

The Wolverines closed out the perfect weekend with a sweep over William Penn, controlling the match from start to finish. Smalls had a team-high 11 kills, while Gina Giacomini added nine. Bri Alspaugh (SR/St. Louis, MI) and Katherine Nealy (JR/Southfield, MI) recorded seven kills each. Barile had a team-high 20 assists, while Sabrina Giacomini added 14.

The Wolverines return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play against Indiana Tech at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse. UM-Dearborn closes the regular season with five of six matches at home.
