NO. 14 CORNERSTONE TAKES WHAC MATCHUP FROM UM-DEARBORN

The Wolverines led the first set early, but the Golden Eagles rallied to take the opening frame. Cornerstone closed the match out in three sets as UM-Dearborn falls to 4-9 overall and 1-6 in the WHAC. The set scores were 25-20, 25-16, 25-18. 

Senior Shayla Smalls (SR/Canton, MI) led the Wolverines with 10 kills, finishing with four errors and a .214 hitting percentage. Gina Giacomini (FR/Plymouth, MI) and Katherine Nealy (JR/Southfield, MI) each added six kills, while Sabrina Giacomini (FR/Plymouth, MI) recorded 26 assists. 

Heather Roberts (JR/Flint, MI) led the UM-Dearborn defense with 13 digs and Erin Parrinello (JR/Westland, MI) added eight digs. Nealy recorded one solo block and three block assists, while Sabrina Giacomini and Parrinello each added two block assists. 

Cornerstone was led by Kendra Zwart with a match-high 14 kills and Hope Leppink finished with 34 assists. 

The Wolverines travel to Lawrence Tech for a WHAC contest at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Southfield, Mich.
