UM-DEARBORN DROPS CLOSE BATTLE AT LTU

The Wolverines took the first set, but the Blue Devils rallied for a 2-1 lead after three. The teams went back and forth in the fourth, with UM-Dearborn holding a three-point lead on several occasions. Lawrence Tech rallied and captured the set to win the match 3-1. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 4-10 overall and 1-7 in the WHAC. 

Freshman Gina Giacomini (FR/Plymouth, MI) had her highest total in kills since the season opener, posting 16 with five errors for a .220 hitting percentage. Katherine Nealy (JR/Southfield, MI), Bri Alspaugh(SR/St. Louis, MI) and Shayla Smalls (SR/Canton, MI) each finished with eight kills. Erin Parrinello(JR/Westland, MI) added seven kills. Freshman Sabrina Giacomini (FR/Plymouth, MI) recorded a career-high with 37 assists, getting the start at the setter position. 

The Wolverine defense was led by Heather Roberts(JR/Flint, MI) with 16 digs, while Caitlyn Carlson(JR/Armada, MI) and Parrinello added 14 and 10, respectively. Nealy had a team-high four block assists, while Parrinello added three. 

The Wolverines finished with 49 kills, 24 errors and a .168 hitting percentage, while totaling 12 block assists. 

UM-Dearborn steps out of WHAC play to take on Grace Bible College at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fieldhouse.
