Michigan Dearborn's Men's Lacrosse team traveled down to Illinois this past weekend with a 2-1 record to compete against Wheaton College and Lewis University. The Wolverines tacked on two more wins to their overall record making them 4-1. As a team Michigan Dearborn had scored a total of 37 goals and had only given up 7 between the two games.
Wheaton, IL-Saturday, March 21 Michigan took on the Thunder (Wheaton College) and finished with a 17-7 win. Dylan Hatcher led the Wolverines with 6 goals while the defense held the Thunder's top scorer to 2 goals. Matthew Rosteck also led the team in assists (6) along with contributing 8 points. The goalie David Stephanoff gave up 7 goals but had 11 saves to help lead the team to a successful win.
Romeoville, IL-The Wolverines went on to play the next day against Lewis University (Flyers) and finished with a 20-0 sweep. Michigan generated 47 shots against the flyers and scored on 20 of them. The Wolverines played very strong defense to make Stephanoff's job easier. Stephanoff had 4 saves and did not give up a single goal. Senior Ruben Cabello had an outstanding game leading the team with 4 goals, 3 assists and 7 points. Right behind Cabello was Dylan Hatcher with 4 goals, 2 assists and 6 pts.
This weekend on Saturday, March 28 at 1:00pm the Men's Lacrosse team will host their first conference game this season against Lourdes University. On Sunday, March 29 at 1:00pm they will welcome The University of Toledo to their home field. The games will be held at Detroit Country Day's Fieldhouse.
