Rochester holds off UM-Dearborn 93-84

DEARBORN, Mich. – In a rematch of the 2018 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament title game, the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team hosted Rochester College on Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Warriors led by five at the half and held off a rally by the Wolverines to escape with a 93-84 win. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines were led offensively by Mafiaion Joyner with 17 points and four rebounds off the bench. UM-Dearborn also had three other players finish with double-digit scoring as Cody Kegley recorded 15, while Jalen Paul added 10. Jason Gigliotti finished with a double-double, including 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 28-for-70 from the field, 13-for-35 from deep and a perfect 15-for-15 from the line. UM-Dearborn finished with 18 assists and 16 turnovers.

Rochester's Armand Courtright powered the Warriors with 27 points while Justin Nafso added 22 and Kash Blackwell 21.

The Wolverines return to action in a nonconference matchup against Ohio Christian University at 6:30 pm Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
