Men's Basketball Gets Back on Winning Track

Dearborn, MI - The men's basketball team got back to its winning ways on Wednesday night as the Wolverines defeated the visiting Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 81-59. Michigan-Dearborn (8-9, 3-6) shot the ball extremely well, shooting over 60% in the first half and 54% for the game. Lawrence Tech (3-14, 2-7) made 11 three-pointers in the game but struggled with turnovers committing 14 of them while Michigan-Dearborn committed only 5 turnovers. The game not only ended the team's two game losing streak, but also ended Head Coach Taylor Langley's losing streak of five games on his birthday.

Early on both teams exchanged baskets until Michigan-Dearborn went on a 16-2 run led by freshman Alex Hagel who had 8 of those 16 points including to three-point baskets as the Wolverines led 22-11 midway through the first half. The Blue Devils stormed right back going on a 9-0 run themselves and eventually would tie the game with just over four minutes remaining in the first half. The Wolverines would respond ending the half on a 14-4 run with sophomore Ali Farhat, playing in his first game with Michigan-Dearborn, scoring five of those points.

In the second half, Michigan-Dearborn would maintain a somewhat comfortable lead with Lawrence getting as close as six points, before the Wolverines ended the game outscoring Lawrence Tech 30-15 over the final 13 minutes of the game to win 81-59 giving their head coach a win on his birthday. Farhat led the Wolverines with 16 points while junior Gage Throgmorton added 13 points and Hagel had 12 points. The men's basketball team will head to Grand Rapids on Saturday to take on #25 Aquinas College at 3:00pm.
