Three Point Shooting Leads Men's Basketball Over Siena Heights

Adrian, MI - The men's basketball team played on Saturday with only one day of rest after defeating Wilberforce University on Thursday night. The Wolverines showed no signs of fatigue defeating the Siena Heights University Saints 63-52. Michigan-Dearborn (6-7, 2-5) shot 50% (10 for 20) from behind the three-point arc while Siena Heights (4-8, 2-5) made only 2 of 16 three-point attempts.

The Wolverines held a slim lead through the majority of the first half until four consecutive three-pointers by four different players gave Michigan-Dearborn a 13 point lead with just under five minutes left in the first half. Siena Heights would close the gap to six points, 29-23, at halftime.

The second half saw the Saints pull within one point six minutes into the second half, but that is as close as they would get. Junior Marcus Williams and freshman Alex Hagel would make back-to-back three-pointers giving Michigan-Dearborn a seven point lead. The Wolverines would eventually build the lead to 13 points as Williams had four three-pointers on the game in leading Michigan-Dearborn to a 63-52 win.

The Wolverines never trailed in the game nor was the game ever tied after the first Michigan-Dearborn basket 24 seconds into the game. Williams led all scorers with 18 points while Hagel and senior Anthony Barley each added 10 points. The Wolverines defense stymied the Saints limiting them to 35% shooting for the game and only allowing one Siena Heights player to score 10 or more points. The men's basketball team is off until December 21st when they host Indiana University-Kokomo at 7:30pm.
