RIVERVIEW, Mich.- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team opened the 2019 season with a nonconference matchup against Huntington University Wednesday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.

The Wolverines fell behind early in the first half after two quick goals from the Foresters. UM-Dearborn answered with a goal in the opening minutes of the second half, but Huntington regained a two-goal lead 12 minutes later to drop the Wolverines to 0-1.

Freshman Gabriella Teems scored the first goal of her career for the Wolverines in the opening minutes of the first half. She received a pass from fellow freshman Marta Andreu and played a ball to the far post for the tally.

UM-Dearborn junior goalkeeper Jordan Anheuser made seven saves, including five in the second half in the loss.

Avery Giguere had a goal and an assist for Huntington, while Hannah Williams and Courtney McKown each added a goal.

The Wolverines were outshot 19-9, while Huntington had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.

UM-Dearborn returns to action Saturday, August 31 against Goshen College at 4:30 pm at Gabriel Richard High School.
