No. 4 Davenport Too Much for Wolverines

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The No. 4 Davenport University men's soccer team proved its ranking is deserved with eight goals in an 8-1 win over the University of Michigan-Dearborn in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Panthers scored three goals over a five-minute span in the first half to pull away from the Wolverines. UM-Dearborn got a goal in the second half, but Davenport added five after the break. The loss drops the Wolverines to 3-10 overall and 1-8 in the WHAC.

Brody Hall (JR/Corunna, MI) got the lone Wolverine goal in the 50th minute on a header from a ball chipped into the box by Hussein Hassan (SR/Dearborn, MI). The goal is the first on the season for Hall, while the assist was the first in 2016 for Hassan.

TJ Ifaturoti, Kevin LaCroix and Brogan Shrimpton each scored twice for the Panthers, who outshot UM-Dearborn 43-3. Dylon Da Silva (SO/Canton, MI) got the start for the Wolverines in the net, making eight saves in the loss.

UM-Dearborn plays its final regular-season road contest at Lourdes University at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Sylvania, Ohio. The Wolverines will celebrate Senior Day in the regular-season finale against Cornerstone University at noon Saturday at Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, Mich.
