Soccer Drops First Match of the Season

Spring Arbor, MI - The men's soccer team dropped its first match of the season falling to the Spring Arbor University Cougars 5-1 on Saturday night. Spring Arbor took 41 shots with 20 shots on goal. Michigan-Dearborn goalkeeper Aaron Johnson (SR/Ypsilanti, MI) made 15 saves in the game as the Cougars applied pressure throughout the match. Spring Arbor's constant offensive push caused the Wolverines to muster only seven shots with five of them on goal. Even with Spring Arbor's pressure, Johnson kept the game scoreless until the 22:47 mark of the first half when the Cougars' Jake Sterling scored off a header. Spring Arbor would add two more goals in the first half taking a 3-0 lead into the second half.

Spring Arbor would score its fourth goal of the match just over 17 minutes into the second half. Eight minutes later, Michigan-Dearborn would get on the scoreboard when Hussein Hassan (SR/Dearborn, MI) scored with Jad Hmadeh (SR/Beirut, Lebanon) getting the assist. The Cougars would score the final goal of the game just two minutes later in winning 5-1. The soccer team will next play at Cleary University on Tuesday at 6:00pm.
