Wolverines edged by Cleary in non conference matchup

HOWELL, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team were unable to overcome a two-goal deficit in loss to Cleary University Tuesday in Howell, Mich.

The Cougars scored off a rebound in the first minute to put the Wolverines in an early hole, while another Cleary shot crossed the line shortly after the half. UMD cut the Cougar lead in half with a late tally, but fell 2-1 to drop to 2-2 on the season.

The Wolverines goal came from Alek Vasilevski on an assist from Jeffrey Drzyzga (JR/Grosse Ile, MI) in the 85th minute. The goal for Vasilevski was his first of the season.

UMD was held in the game by goalkeeper Dylon Da Silva, who made seven saves in the loss. The Wolverines were outshot 19-10. The Cleary goals were both scored by Noah Schneider.

The Wolverines open Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference play against Marygrove College at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Mich.
