Soccer Opens With a 2-0 Win

Brighton, MI - The men's soccer team started the 2016 season with a 2-0 win over the visiting Rochester College Warriors. Junior Jeffrey Drzyzga (JR/Grosse Ile, MI), playing in his first game with the Wolverines, started off the scoring with a goal at 11:50 of the first half. Senior Ali Anani (SR/Dearborn Heights, MI) assisted on the goal. That was the only goal of the first half as sophomore goalkeeper Dylon Da Silva (SO/Canton, MI) made three saves to keep the Warriors off the scoreboard.

Anani would strike quickly in the second half scoring an unassisted goal off a corner kick just 36 seconds into the half. Senior goalkeeper Aaron Johnson (SR/Ypsilanti, MI) took the net in the second half and made five saves in preserving the shutout for Michigan-Dearborn. The Wolverines outshot the Warriors 16-10 for the game with Anani leading the way with three shots on goal.

The soccer team will next face Albion College in a scrimmage on August 23rd at Albion at 6:30pm.
