Chris Haltinner enters his 11th season coaching the Wolverines in 2023-24. 

Under Haltinner, UM-Dearborn men's hockey has returned to the top of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference after claiming the WHAC Tournament Championship in 2023. The Wolverines have consistently been ranked in the top 10 over the last three seasons, while UM-Dearborn has won conference postseason championships in four of the last five seasons. The Wolverines captured the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League Playoff Championship in 2015-16 and 2016-17, while winning the inaugural Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Championship in 2017-18 and recapturing it in 2019-20 to go along with the regular season title.

The Wolverines have earned trips to the ACHA Division I National Tournament in five consecutive seasons, including reaching the quarterfinal round in 2016-17 and the semifinal round in 2018-19. UM-Dearborn reached a No. 2 ranking in the ACHA National Poll in 2018-19.

Prior to taking the head coaching position at UM-Dearborn, Haltinner worked as a goalie coach and later as an assistant coach for the Wolverines. He started his coaching career working at the Mitch Korn Goalie Camps. Korn is the goalie coach for the New York Islanders of the NHL. 

Haltinner attended Henry Ford Community College and Schoolcraft College, where he studied firefighting and learned to be a paramedic. Chris and his wife Stephanie reside in Canton, Mich., and have one child, Landen.
