DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team closed the regular season on Parent's Day against Aquinas College in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
The Wolverines battled through a tightly-contested first half, but the Saints pulled away early in the second half to top UM-Dearborn 70-50, ending the Wolverines season with a record of 7-23 overall and 4-18 in the WHAC.
Prior to tip-off the Wolverines celebrated Parent's Day in a ceremony that was held to celebrate the contributions of all the student-athlete's parents.
UM-Dearborn was led by Megan Swick (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) with a team-high 11 points, while Jeorgia Jones (FR/Detroit, MI) added 10 points to close out her first year with the team.
The Wolverines shot 20-for-56 from the field and converted on 7-of-25 attempts from long range, while going 3-of-10 from the line.
Aquinas College was led offensively by Deiona Rogers with 17 points and six rebounds.
UM-Dearborn had 16 assists compared to 22 turnovers while the Saints finished with nine assists and 16 turnovers.
The Wolverines more than doubled their win total from last season and return an experienced squad in 2017-18, as UM-Dearborn has no graduates on this year's team.
