Despite career-high from Jones, Wolverines fall to LTU

DEARBORN, Mich. - Despite a strong third-quarter comeback, the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team fell to Lawrence Tech in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

Lawrence Tech used a strong push in the fourth quarter to separate itself from the Wolverines en route to a 62-50 victory. UM-Dearborn drops to 5-20 on the season and 2-15 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines were led by Jeorgia Jones (FR/Detroit, MI) for the second consecutive game. Jones shot 10-16 from the field, grabbed four rebounds and finished with a career-high 20 points, including 12 in the first half. Kendall Rose (SO/Canton, MI) scored eight points for the Wolverines and Marisa Sauve (JR/Dearborn, MI), playing in her first home game of the season came away with seven points.

UM-Dearborn shot 20-for-48 as a team, hit 4-of-15 from long range, 6-of-8 free-throws and added 12 assists.

Lawrence Tech was led by Nicole Buckingham who shot 9-for-22 and scored a game-high 24 points.

With just five games remaining on the schedule, the Wolverines will play three more at home. Marygrove College comes to town for a WHAC matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fieldhouse.
