UM-Dearborn women take OT Thriller from Concordia

DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team fought back-and-forth with Concordia University, outlasting the Cardinals for the team's first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win of the season Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

Emily Heinrich (SO/South Lyon, MI) hit a pair of big shots for the Wolverines, including a 3-pointer with 43 seconds to go in regulation to tie the game at 55-55. Heinrich put UM-Dearborn ahead for good with 1:22 left in overtime with a reverse layup. A despiration 3-pointer from the Cardinals missed the mark, as the Wolverines held on for the 62-60 win to move to 4-13 overall and 1-8 in the WHAC.

Heinrich took over on both ends of the floor for the Wolverines in the second half with 11 points and nine rebounds after the break. Heinrich finished with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, while adding 11 rebounds for a double-double. Kendall Rose (SO/Canton, MI) also finished with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds.

Jeorgia Jones (FR/Detroit MI) kept the Wolverines close in the first half, scoring nine of her 14 points off the bench before the break. The Wolverines shot 24-of-63 from the field, 5-of-22 from deep and 9-of-15 from the line.

The Cardinals got a game-high 21 points from Kari Borowiak, while Mia Long added 13 points. Concordia shot 20-of-73 from the field, 5-of-27 from deep and 15-of-26 from the free-throw line.

The Wolverines play an exhibition game against the University of Findlay at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 29 in Findlay, Ohio.
