Fourth-Quarter push sends Wolverine women past Gray Wolves

DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team outscored Lourdes University 23-9 in the fourth quarter to capture the team's second WHAC win of the season Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines and Gray Wolves went back and forth through three quarters. The game was tied at 47-47 heading to the final 10 minutes, where UM-Dearborn took over en route to a 70-56 win, which pushes the Wolverines to 5-16 overall and 2-11 in the WHAC.

Arryn Dochenetz (SO/Livonia, MI) came of the bench to score six points in the fourth, as the Wolverines shot 10-of-13 with 10 assists as a team in the frame.

After the Wolverines fell behind early, Jeorgia Jones (FR/Detroit, MI) led the team back with a strong first half. Jones finished with a team-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while grabbing four rebounds. Kendall Rose (SO/Canton, MI) scored 12 points, pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and dished out seven assists. Megan Swick (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Dochenetz totaled 11 points.

The Wolverines shot 49 percent (27-of-55) from the field, 2-of-14 from deep and 14-of-25 from the line. The team totaled 24 assists compared to 17 turnovers.

The Gray Wolves were led by Kalena Harris with 13 points, while Daja Whiteside added 11. Lourdes shot 21-of-66 from the field, 3-of-19 from behind the 3-point line and 11-of-14 on free throws, while outrebounding the Wolverines 36-30.

The Wolverines game took place prior to the dedication of the new hardwood floor in the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

UM-Dearborn is on the road for its next three, starting with No. 6 Davenport University at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.
