LANSING, Mich. – For the first time in program history, the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's cross country team finished an intercollegiate meet in first place, as the Wolverines won the 2018 Lansing Invitational hosted by Lansing Community College at Grand Woods Park in Lansing, Mich.
The Wolverines, led by a school-record performance from freshman Ryan Exell, finished three points better than the host school with 65, with several runners hitting personal bests.
Exell finished 10th overall in the race with a school record time of 25 minutes, 56.9 seconds. The run was the first under 26 minutes by any UM-Dearborn student-athlete in an 8k race.
Freshman John Romeo Gaton finished in 14th place with a time of 26:18.6, which was just two seconds off the previous school record prior to Friday. Freshman Jarrett St. John was 16th in 26:19.0, while Owen Rowader finished in 26th in 26:50.4
The Wolverines continue their drive to the postseason at the Jayhawk Invitational hosted by Muskegon Community College Friday, Oct. 12 in Muskegon, Mich.
