DEARBORN, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn Men's Ice Hockey team returned to action with weekend-series against the Cleary University Cougars this past weekend.

Friday night's contest was a defensive battle with the Wolverines finding themselves down one after the first period. The Wolverines would bounce back, adding a goal in the second and clinching the victory in overtime.

After going down one, UM-Dearborn would respond as Josh Makarchuk found the back of the net from a Brendan West past six minutes into the second. The two teams would see a scoreless third period lead to overtime with Makarchuk getting the game-winner, his second goal of the night, with Kieran O'Connell getting the lone assist.

Tanner Beals got the nod in goal, making 24 saves in the winning effort.

Saturday night's game once again saw the Cougars jump out to a one-goal lead after the first period. The Wolverines would respond, striking twice in the middle frame as Danny Fletcher tied the game with the first goal of his collegiate career, while Mikhail Khudenko gave UM-Dearborn the lead with a power-play tally set up by West. West would extend the Wolverine lead to two late in the third with Makarchuk adding an assist. The Cougars would trim the UM-Dearborn lead to one with five minutes remaining, but the Wolverines would hold off any late Cougar chances, earning the 3-2 victory and the weekend series sweep.

Kayden Pickles would get the start, making 13 saves in the winning effort.
