UM-Dearborn women open 2019 with third-place finish

NORTHVILLE, Mich. – With the largest team in program history, the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's cross country team opened the 2019 season at the 33rd Annual Detroit Mercy Titan Invitational Saturday at Cass Benton Park in Northville, Mich.

The Wolverines had a strong outing, finishing third as a team, ahead of the host school, NCAA Division I Detroit Mercy. Wayne State University won the team title.

Junior Victoria Hebda led the Wolverines in 18th place in a time of 20:23.7 in the 5K. Freshmen duo Kylie Callison and Mikayla Borg were close behind in 20th and 21st, respectively. Callison crossed the line in a time of 20:48.3, while Borg finished in 20:52.6. Riley Day was 24th with a time of 21:11.8.

Junior Julia Cercone was 25th in a time of 21:13.0, while freshman Emily Warrington was 27th in 21:40.2. Junior Camryn Zurawski was 28th with freshman Claudia Shuler was 31st.

The Wolverines return to action at the Rumble in the Fort, hosted by WHAC school Purdue-Fort Wayne, Friday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
