Wolverine Cross Country travels to West Coast for Master's event

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the west coast to compete at The Master's Invitational Saturday in Santa Clarita, Calif.

The race provided both the men's and women's teams with the opportunity to compete against some of the top NAIA programs in the nation. The men's program placed 16th out of 28 teams in an 8k race. The women's program finished 19th out of 31 teams in the 5k race.

Junior Josh Mussen led the way for the Wolverine men with a time of 26:39.1, which landed him in 60th place overall. Reigning Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year Ryan Exell posted a time of 26:42.6, which was good for 64th place. Sophomore Jarrett St. John and Junior Josh Williams rounded out the top runners for the men with times of 27:06.4 and 27:21.3, respectively.

Freshman Mikayla Borg was the top runner for the UM-Dearborn women finishing in 113th place with a time of 19:51.1. Fellow freshman Kylie Callison finished in 119th place with a time of 19:56.6. Victoria Hebda and Riley added finishes of 20:11.9 and 20:19.8, respectively.

The Wolverines travel to the Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville Saturday in Louisville, KY. The men's race begins at 12 pm, while the women's race begins at 12:45 pm.
