Wolverines compete at Calvin Knight Invite

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn cross country program was back in action at the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Wolverine men competed in their first 8K race of the season and finished 15th out of 23 qualifying schools, while the women raced the 5K with an 18th-place finish out of 25 schools.

Four freshmen led the Wolverine men, with Ryan Exell finishing in 26:42.9, good for 55th place in the event. Jarrett St. John was 73rd at 27:02.2 followed by John Romeo Gaton in 88th at 27:22.1 and Owen Rowader in 94th at 27:27.2.

For the women, Victoria Hebda took 50th with a final time of 19:42.1. Julia Cercone was 70th at 19:58.6. Freshman Rebecca Bradsher, seniors Mickaela Dela Cruz and Alyssa Harlow were next for UM-Dearborn.

The Wolverines return to action at the Ray Bullock Invitational hosted by Taylor University at 5 pm Friday, Sep. 21 in Upland, Ind.
