Women's Soccer Sweeps WHAC Weekly Awards

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team took home their first season accolades as Emmi Pinkowski and Natalie Bicego swept the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference weekly awards. Pinkowski was named Offensive Player of the Week, and Bicego was named Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first time they have received the award.

Pinkowski, a Grosse Ile native, tallied seven points last season. In four games this season, Pinkowski has amassed 12 points. Over the weekend, the forward tallied two goals and two assists in their victories. The Wolverines, in total, scored 24 goals across the two games.

Bicego, a senior from Warren, Mich., set the tempo the entire weekend for how the Wolverines would play defensively. Bicego helped limit Wolverine opponents to just one shot on goal in 180 minutes of play this weekend. The Wolverines did not concede a goal in either game and gave the team their first clean sheet of the season. In the second game on the weekend, Bicego got in on the scoring action as she scored her second career goal in the Maize & Blue.

You can catch the WHAC Players of the Week in action on Wednesday, September 6th, at home against Bethel (IN). Kick-off is set for 6 pm.
