SYLVANIA, Ohio.- The UM-Dearborn softball team returned to action in the double-elimination WHAC postsesason tournament last Wednesday in Sylvania, Ohio. 

The Wolverines opened up tournament play against the Aquinas College Saints, falling 6-5 in 12 innings. Leading UM-Dearborn was Makenna Millhorn (3-5, 2 RBI) and Shae Scott (3-6).

Scott got the start on the mound in three innings of work, giving up three runs on three hits, while striking out two. Ashlynn Henderson pitched one scoreless inning in relief. Lanie Ellinger came in for 7.1 innings of long relief, giving up three runs on give hits, while Erin McCune took the loss on the mound, giving up two hits.

The Wolverines had to win to stay alive in game two, taking on the Cornerstone Golden Eagles. UM-Dearborn would use a five-run second inning, while adding insurance runs in the sixth and seventh, on its to way a 7-3 victory over Cornerstone.

Leading the Wolverines was Amber Cheplick (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI, RS) and Madelin Skene (3-4, 3 2B, RBI, RS). Millhorn, Haley Tiseo, and Gina Liss would also drive in runs in the winning effort.

McCune got the win on the mound for UM-Dearborn, registering a complete game, giving up three runs on seven hits, while striking out three.

The Wolverines would move on to play the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers Thursday morning. UNOH used a three-run first and a two-run fourth to secure a 6-1 victory over UM-Dearborn. Four Wolverine batters recorded doubles including Vermiglio, who led the way going 2 for 3, while driving in the long UM-Dearborn run. 

Ashlynn Henderson took the loss on the mound 0.2 inning of work, giving up three runs on five hits. Ellinger would come in for 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out one. McCune would come in to close out the final 2.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits.

The loss eliminated the Wolverines from the WHAC playoffs, as they finish the season with an overall record of 11-14.
