Wolverines drop two to Racers

LIMA, Ohio.- The UM-Dearborn softball team returned to action on the road Sunday afternoon with a double-header against the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up.

In Game One, the Racers relied on four runs in the sixth and strong pitching on their way to a 6-0 victory over the Wolverines. Carlie Hanes limited the UM-Dearborn offense to four hits, while striking out seven Wolverine hitters in the winning effort. 

Erin McCune took the loss on the mound in 5.2 innings of work for UM-Dearborn, giving up eight hits and striking out four. Lanie Ellinger came in for relief work, giving up one hit and striking out one. 

In Game Two, UNOH used a five-run second, despite a late Wolverine push, to take an 8-4 win and a series sweep. Four UM-Dearborn batters record multi-hit games, with Aspen Starr (2-4, 2B, 3-R HR, 3 RBI, RS) leading the way. 

Katelyn Sadowski went 1.1 innings in the loss, giving up five hits and striking out one. Ashlynn Henderson came in for 4.2 innings of relief work, giving up four hits while striking out two.

The losses drop the Wolverines to 9-9 overall and 9-9 in the WHAC.

UM-Dearborn returns to action with a double-header against Siena Heights Wednesday starting at 3:30pm in Adrian, Mich.
