Lourdes escapes Wolverines late push

SYLVANIA, Ohio. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team took on the Lourdes University Gray Wolves in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Monday night in Sylvania, Ohio.

The Wolverines offense took control of a back and forth first quarter, coming out with a two-goal lead after the opening 15 minutes. The UM-Dearborn offense would stall in the second quarter, with the Gray Wolves taking advantage, scoring four times on their way to a two-goal lead at the half. The Wolverines would eventually tie the game late in the third quarter, however Lourdes would rally, jumping out to a four-goal lead. UM-Dearborn would make a late fourth-quarter push but came up short falling to the Gray Wolves 13-11.

The loss drops the Wolverines to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in the WHAC.

Leading UM-Dearborn was Nolan Kelley and Quest Bigelow, with three goals each. Bryce Washington and Parker Steindl would both add two goals as well. 

Jon Chaffee got the start in goal for the Wolverines, making 12 saves. Lourdes held the edge in ground balls, 46-31 and face-offs, 23-5.

UM-Dearborn will return to action on Senior Day against Indiana Tech at 8pm Wednesday at Detroit Country Day Stadium in Beverly Hills, Mich.
