Callaghan, Rinke named CoSIDA Academic All-District

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team picked up a pair of honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

Senior Devon Callaghan and junior Micah Rinke were named Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District® in the At-Large Division, it was announced by the organization.

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

To be nominated by a member sports information director, a student-athlete must have achieved sophomore class standing, been enrolled at their current institution for one year at the start of the current academic calendar and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above.

The award is the second straight for Callaghan and the first for Rinke. Callaghan closed his Wolverine career with an outstanding senior season, leading the UM-Dearborn offense with 38 goals and six assists in just nine games. He was named to the All-WHAC Second Team earlier this season.

Rinke had a breakout season in the midfield for the Wolverines scoring 18 goals and seven assists, while adding 23 ground balls, all career highs.

Both Callaghan and Rinke will move on to the CoSIDA Academic All-American voting. The results will be announced later this month.
