Callaghan scores his 100th in loss to No. 3 Warriors

BRIGHTON, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team dropped its first conference game of the season against No. 3 Indiana Tech in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday at the Legacy Center.

After scoring the first goal of the game, the Wolverines surrendered the next four, falling 24-9. The loss brings UM-Dearborn (RV) to 1-5 on the season and 1-1 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines kept the game close early, trailing just 11-6 at the half, scoring the last two goals of the second quarter. The Warriors scored seven times in the third and held UM-Dearborn to three goals the rest of the way.

Leading the way offensively for the Wolverines was Devon Callaghan with four goals. The senior's fourth goal, scored early in the third quarter, was the 100th of his career. Adam Ranck and Micah Rinke each added one goal and two assists.

In goal, Jay Rupnow got the start for UM-Dearborn, making seven saves on 22 shots, before being replaced by Liam Turner.

Chandler Peterson scored eight goals and recorded six assists to lead the Indiana Tech attack.

The Wolverines continue conference play against Taylor University at 2 pm Saturday in Upland, Ind.
