SAINTS PULL AWAY FOR WIN OVER MEN'S SOCCER

The Wolverines rebounded from an early goal against to tie the game in the opening minutes, but the Saints scored four straight to take the contest 5-1. The loss drops UM-Dearborn 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the WHAC.

After Aquinas went ahead with a goal in the second minute, Grant Baker (SO/Brownstown, MI) got UM-Dearborn on the board with a goal eight minutes later. Baker put away a header off a corner kick from freshman Chad Schmerheim (FR/St. Clair Shores, MI). The goal was the first of the season for Baker, while Schmerheim now leads the Wolverines with three assists in his first season. 

Aquinas was led by Alex Mendez and Jacob Bedi with two goals each, while Mendez added two assists. The Saints outshot the Wolverines 18-9, while taking eight corner kicks, compared to two for UM-Dearborn. 

UM-Dearborn goalkeeper Dylon DaSilva (JR/Canton, MI) made four saves in the loss.

The Wolverines continue WHAC play against Lawrence Tech at 4 p.m. Saturday in Southfield, Mich.
