Josh Simmons began his collegiate lacrosse career in 2002 as a goalie for the inaugural University of Michigan-Dearborn Men’s Lacrosse Team, where he also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. After two successful seasons as a player, he transitioned into coaching, starting as an assistant coach at Northville High School from 2003 to 2005. Simmons continued to build his coaching resume as a 7th/8th grade coach and program goalie coach at Northville Parks and Recreation from 2009 to 2014.
In 2015, he became the Assistant Head Coach for the Men’s Varsity Lacrosse team at Canton High School. From 2016 to 2019, Simmons served as the Varsity Head Coach for the Canton Men’s Lacrosse team, leading the program to a 2017 Regional Championship and the most successful season in school history. In 2020, Simmons returned to UM-Dearborn as an Assistant Coach, where he oversees the goalies and contributes to both the offense and defense. Simmons currently resides in the Metro Detroit area with his family and works as an HVAC manager. He is also heavily involved in youth sports, coaching both baseball and lacrosse in
