Entering the 2021-22 season, Jason Watts is in his 18th year as a coach, 14th as Head Coach of the Wolverines.

Watts began his collegiate playing career in 2002 on the inaugural UM-Dearborn Men’s Lacrosse Team.  Watts started at defense for two seasons before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

During his senior year, Watts joined former teammate David Aktary as an Assistant Coach with Northville High School in 2003.  After a two-year stint at Northvile, Watts returned to his Alma Mater in the winter of 2005 as an Assistant Coach.  Watts would spend four seasons as an assistant before taking over as Head Coach in 2009

In his first year as head coach, Watts tallied a 5-5 record and improved the team defense from 13.70 GAA in 2008 to 7.10 GAA in 2009.  Watts led the team to its first-ever playoff appearance in 2013 and was selected as WHAC Coach of the Year. As well as earning the WHAC Coach of Character award in 2013 & 2016.

Before the start of the 2014 season Watts led the crucial transition for UM-Dearborn men's lacrosse from Club to Varsity status. The intricate and difficult process took years of planning and was crafted through Watt's passion and dedication to steer the Wovlerines in a new direction. Since then it's paved the way for lacrosse student athletes to receive a world class education while pursuing their dreams to play college lacrosse at a varsity level.

His post-collegiate playing career spans over a decade, Watts competed on the Detroit Coney Dogs Box Lacrosse Team during their inaugural season in 2012. Was a member of two MCLC teams playing with Great Lakes from 2006-11 as well as Motor City from 2012-17, where he help lead the team to back to back MCLC Championships in 2016 & 17.

Watts and his family currently reside in Metro Detroit where he works as an Engineering Sr. Manager at an automotive supplier.
