Matthew Laurinec enters his sixth season as an Assistant Coach with the men's lacrosse team, managing all aspects of the Wolverine defense.

Beginning in 2019 Laurinec volunteered his time and was appointed the NAIA (National Association Of Interolleigiate Athletics) representative on the IMLCA (intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association) Technology Committee. After his early successes, he was also assigned the role of NAIA Assistant Coaches Representative on the IMLCA Assistant Coaches Committee. 

Laurinec was one of the most successful players at UM-Dearborn in the team's time as a club sport. He competed for the Wolverines from 2006-10, earning CCLA All-Conference accolades in 2007. He was also named the UM-Dearborn Player of the Year in 2006 and 2008, while serving as a team captain from 2008-10. 

Prior to joining the staff at UM-Dearborn, Laurinec was an assistant coach with the Troy Athens boys varsity lacrosse team from 2010-16. He played in his high school lacrosse at Troy Athens, where he was named to the All-State First Team in 2006.

Following a passion for communications and digital media Laurinec currently works full time as the Executive Producer and on air talent for The Blaine Fowler Morning Show on 96.3 WDVD in Detroit. He also does color commentary for UM-Dearborn basketball and hockey games.
