Wolverines earn first win of season, take down Missouri Baptist

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team returned home for the first of a three-game home stand by taking on the Missouri Baptist Spartans from St. Louis, Mo., in a non-conference matchup at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse in Beverly Hills, Mich.

The two teams remained neck and neck, trading off goals through the first half, however, the Wolverines would connect in the closing seconds, taking a one goal lead into the break. Despite the Spartans tying the game two minutes into the third, the UM-Dearborn offense would respond with six unanswered goals on its way to a to a 12-7 win over Missouri Baptist.

Leading the way for the Wolverines was Nolan Kelley with four goals and two assists. Mason Loudermilk and Bryce Washington each would add two goals, while Parker Steindl, Ryan Savage, Brodie Mahmud, and Cameron Godin would all add a goal of their own.

The victory moves UM-Dearborn to 1-4 overall on the season.

Jay Rupnow would get the win the goal, making nine saves in the game.

The Wolverines return to action against Mount Vernon Nazarene at 8 pm Tuesday night at Detroit Country Day in Beverly Hills, Mich.
