Men's Golf closes WHAC season in 9th

SOUTH LYON, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's golf team competed in the third and final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jamboree of the season Monday and Tuesday at Cattails Golf Club in South Lyon, Mich.

The conclusion of the two-day event saw the Wolverines finish in 11th place out 12 teams. UM-Dearborn posted a score of 345 in day one and 348 in day two. The combined standings of all three jamborees have the Wolverines finishing ninth out of 12 teams.

Sophomore Nick Metaxas tied for 16th place in the event, posting a day one score of 80 and an 82 in the final round. Freshmen Logan Willoughby (82, 86) and Ryan Gniewek (84, 86) finished tied for 27th and tied for 31st, respectively.

Metaxas finished conference play with an overall average of 83, finishing tied for 24th place. Willoughby finished just two strokes behind his teammate for an overall average of 83.33, putting him in a tie for 27th. Gniewek nearly cracked the top 30 with an overall average of 84.83.

Northwestern Ohio was crowned WHAC team champions, narrowly edging out Aquinas.

The Wolverines will conclude the fall portion of the 2019-20 schedule at the Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State University Sunday and Monday at the TPC Michigan in Dearborn.
