Wolverine men finish 5th at Treetops

GAYLORD, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's golf team continued season one for the program at the Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Lawrence Tech Monday and Tuesday at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Mich.

The Wolverines finished in a tie for fifth place in the six-team field. Holy Cross College won the team title for the men.

UM-Dearborn finished with a two-round total of 620 with a 308 in round one and 312 in round two. Nick Metaxas led the Wolverines in ninth place overall with a 79 on day one and a program-record round of 70 in the final round for a two-day total of 149.

Ryan Gniewek was tied for 14th with a 151 (76, 75), followed by Logan Willoughby in a tie for 18th with a 153 (73, 80) and Mike Mercier in 28th with a 167 (80, 87). Nolan Steele carded a 178 over two days with rounds of 88 and 90.

The Wolverine men compete next at the second WHAC Jamboree Oct. 4-5 at The Mines Golf Course in Grand Rapids, Mich.
