Wolverines take third in WHAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's cross country team competed at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference championships Friday at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Wolverines finished third as a team, the best showing in program history at the event, with Ryan Exell leading the way. UM-Dearborn finished with 89 points, while Cornerstone University won the team title with 18.

Exell crossed the finish line 12th overall with a time of 26:54.35 in the 8k race, while teammate Josh Mussen was 13th with a time of 26:57.38, both earning a spot on the All-WHAC Second Team.

Jorden Sowash was 22nd for the Wolverines, while Joshua Williams and Brendan Buckner finished 25th and 34th, respectively. Williams was also nominated to the Champions of Character team.

UM-Dearborn will now wait to find out if members of the team will qualify for the NAIA National Championships in two weeks. Qualifiers will be announced next week.
