UM-Dearborn drops WHAC opener to Lourdes

RIVERVIEW, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to Lourdes University in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener Saturday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.

The Gray Wolves broke a scoreless tie with the game's only goal in the 67th minute to top the Wolverines 1-0. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines had their best scoring chance of the contest on a header from Jacob Drzyzga just a minute before the Lourdes goal. Drzyzga's header rang off the cross bar and came straight down on the line where it was pounced on by the Gray Wolves' goalkeeper.

Lourdes capitalized on the swing in momentum to score the game-winner off the foot of Osbaldo Senderos on an assist from Savio Adams.

Alex Siluk made several spectacular stops for the Wolverines, recording six saves in the loss. UM-Dearborn outshot Lourdes 15-13.

The Wolverines continue WHAC play against Lawrence Tech at 7 pm Wednesday in Riverview, Mich.
