SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The no. 24 University of Michigan-Dearborn (9-6-1, 8-2-1) men's ice hockey team took down no. 16 Lawrence Tech (11-3-0, 8-3-0) on Friday (Nov. 18). Tanner Beals was lights out for the Wolverines, stopping 27 of 28 shots. Joey Cullinan scored the winning goal 11 seconds into overtime to give the Wolverines a 2-1 win.

Josh Makarchuk broke the scoring open as he knocked in a rebound just 4:30 into the contest. The Wolverine defense was strong in the opening period letting Beals see only five shots through the first 20 minutes.

After the first intermission, the Blue Devils got their equalizer as Blake Heier scored off a Cole Therrian assist.

Beals would stop 23 shots in the second and third periods to keep both teams knotted up at one. However, neither team would manage to scratch one across in the third period, so a sudden death overtime period would be the decider. Just 11 seconds into the period, Chance Mathews dialed up a beautiful pass to Joey Cullinan, who buried the open chance and gave the Wolverines a road victory against a ranked opponent.
