Offense Clicks as Men’s Ice Hockey Sweeps Lawrence Tech

DEARBORN, Mich—The 19th ranked men's ice hockey team returned to action for the first time since November 20th, and the rest appeared to help the offense find their groove.  UM-Dearborn scored 12 goals in the two games as they swept # 20 Lawrence Tech in a home-and-home Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference series.  On Saturday at Lawrence Tech, sophomore Brendan West had a hat trick while freshman Chance Mathews had two goals and an assist as the Wolverines won 7-1.  Seniors Billy Brock and Mathieu LaForest each had three assists in the game.  Sophomore Kayden Pickles made 24 saves in earning the victory.

On Sunday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse, the Wolverines fell behind 1-0 early in the game.  However, UM-Dearborn would quickly tie the game 36 seconds later on a goal from Brock.  After another Wolverines goal, Lawrence Tech answered to tie the game again.  UM-Dearborn would score again in the first period on a goal from sophomore Anthony Davis.  Two second-period goals would seal the 5-3 win for UM-Dearborn.

Unlike Saturday, the Wolverines spread out the scoring as four different players scored in the win.  LaForest continued his scoring ways as he found the back of the net twice and had two assists.  Brock had one goal and three assists, while West had three assists as UM-Dearborn improved to 12-7-1 on the season.  Pickles once again got the start and made 20 saves in earning his second win of the weekend.

The men's ice hockey team is off until after the New Year as they will return to action on January 7th when they host the Davenport University Panthers at 7:00 pm at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
